William Slater

William Slater is arguably the most influential painter of the second wave of Northwest Mystic artists. He was an East coast transplant who took to the marshes of the Skagit Valley like the brandt geese who sometimes populated his paintings. He created memorable homes in the estuary and his homes were also his studios. Fluent in the language of the heart and oil paint, he freely shared his studio life with friends and colleagues who will remember him for his soft chuckle, nimbleness of brush and some very fine corncakes.

Bill left us in 2007. He is missed.
