Artist Biography

ARTIST INFO
Mary Randlett has been making photographs for almost sixty years. Early in her career she befriended many major Northwest artists, and then quickly rose to their stature. Mary says that the painters of the Northwest school taught her to see.

Indeed, Mary’s eye seeks out, finds and renders with brilliance those unique qualities of the Northwest environment, sometimes with such drama that the images are appealing as pure abstractions. Her collaborators are numerous. She is published in many books and her work is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Smithsonian Institution.

Mary Randlett is an active photographer, still exploring the backroads and hiking trails, still enjoying the solitude of her darkroom. More work by this living treasure can be found in Mary Randlett Landscapes, published by University of Washington Press, also available through Gallery Cygnus.
